ELAHE SHIRZADEH

I am an Iranian contemporary ceramic artist based in Italy. Working primarily with terracotta, I explore the relationship between form, surface and space, using clay as a material that records both gesture and memory.

My practice spans sculpture, architectural terracotta reliefs and hand-built ceramic panels. Through these works, I investigate symbolic forms, ancient archetypes and the subtle relationship between material and place. Each piece develops through a slow process of modelling, carving and surface refinement, allowing the sculpture to emerge naturally from the clay rather than imposing a predetermined form.

Surface finishes are created using engobes, mineral oxides and carefully controlled firing techniques that enhance the natural character of the material. Rather than concealing the clay, these processes reveal its depth, texture and quiet complexity. Every work is professionally fired in Italy to ensure lasting quality while preserving the individuality of each handmade piece.

Every sculpture and relief is entirely hand-built, one of a kind and individually signed. No moulds or industrial production are used, allowing every work to retain the traces of the hands that created it.

My work exists at the intersection of sculpture, architecture and nature. Rather than producing decorative objects, I create ceramic works that become part of the spaces they inhabit inviting contemplation, enriching architectural environments and establishing a lasting dialogue between material, memory and the natural world.
