Birds in My Work

Birds have become a recurring presence throughout my work not as decoration, but as a visual language.They move across terracotta reliefs, emerge from sculptural forms and inhabit surfaces with quiet rhythm. They create a dialogue between architecture and nature, between permanence and movement, between the material weight of clay and the lightness they suggest.

I do not use birds to illustrate a particular narrative. Instead, they function as timeless archetypes, carrying meanings that have existed across cultures for centuries: migration, transformation, protection and renewal. By modelling these fragile forms in clay, I seek to preserve what is naturally ephemeral. Fired terracotta gives permanence to a gesture that would otherwise disappear, allowing memory to become material.

Every bird is shaped by hand, making each composition unique. They are silent presences that invite the viewer to discover the work slowly, revealing themselves through texture, shadow and light.

For me, birds are not the subject of the sculpture. They are its voice.
